Elon Musk, CEO, and product architect of Tesla wrote on his Twitter handle yesterday, that Tesla Solar Panels and Solar Roof will only be sold as a unified product with Tesla Powerwall battery, starting next week.

He further went ahead and wrote that the Solar Power will feed exclusively to Powerwall, which will interface only between the utility meter and house main breaker panel. According to him, this will enable supper simple installation and seamless whole house backup during utility dropouts.

He also mentioned that Powerwall 2 peak and steady power capability is better than it is advertised.
“Now that we have lots of operational data, Tesla can unlock higher capabilities for free via software update next month,” said Elon Musk. “Depending on production date, power increase may be greater than 50% at 30C ambient temperature.”
