Jeep has unveiled a new EV, the Wrangler Magneto with a manual gearshift. However, the Magneto is a prototype car, so you won’t be able to buy one any time soon.
According to Jeep, the Wrangler Magneto’s design is based on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, only that it has an electric motor that offers up to 273 pound-feet of torque, 285 horsepower and comes equipped with an 800-volt system spread across for battery packs.
The company however has not yet shared the car’s range for how far it can go without needing to be charged.
The Magneto also comes equipped with a six-speed manual transmission making it different from other electric cars which have single-speed transmission, but it is not the first electric concept car to have a multi-gear transmission.
“The Moab Easter Jeep Safari has been a great tradition for more than half a century, It’s a place where we get to connect with our most die-hard off-road enthusiasts and the ones who are most loyal to our brand,” Jim Morrison, vice president of the Jeep brand in North America said.
The Magneto is still lacking some substance therefore any sort of electric wrangler is not coming out anytime soon.
