The company wrote emails to their clients notifying them of the new pricing which will take effect from May 24th. Premium and Standard packages are the ones affected. The Premium package will now cost KES 1450 while the Standard package will cost KES 1100.
However, the company has offered Premium subscribers a chance to subscribe at the previous price one more time before the new pricing takes effect. This will may or may not be of benefit to you depending on what time of the month you usually pay for the subscription.
Netflix had earlier on changed the pricing in other markets.
By allowing Kenyans to pay for subscriptions using the local currency, the price has been at a slashed and constant rate. Considering the rapid decrease of the value of the dollar since the pandemic kicked in, allowing Kenyans to pay with local currency has been fair to them.
