According to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the audio suite will have tools and features designed to help users connect with each other and their favorite creators in a better way.
The CEO provided a road map of plans to build the audio suite in the next 3-6 months.
- Podcasts: Zuckerberg says the company will build a podcast discovery tool for creators to share their podcasts with users and for users to consume and discover podcasts on Facebook. He alluded to Facebook potentially partnering with an external podcast app and guiding users to that app to listen to podcasts in the background of their Facebook experience, Axios reported.
- Soundbites: Zuckerberg said that this product is TikTok-like. It will enable users to share their individual clips to their news feeds or consume a string of audio clips joined together and distributed in a feed in an algorithm manner.
- Live audio: With this feature, creators will be able to turn a live conversation into a podcast so that everyone can later listen to it. According to Zuckerberg, the live audio will help users boost the creator economy.
“Many of these audio efforts are about helping creators monetize their work better,” Said Mark Zuckerberg. “We are really focused on the creator side than the consumption side.”
Live audio rooms will be accessible inside Facebook and other Facebook products including Messenger.
