MultiChoice-owned streaming service Showmax continues its campaign as streaming wars tightens not only in Kenya but worldwide.
As good as Showmax is, most people though continue to stick with the big American counterparts and many only have Showmax because it’s bundled into their bigger DStv package.
Showmax has been going for local stars in an effort to strategically place itself as the better option in Africa when it comes to local content. If you are looking for African content, then Showmax has an upper hand.
It’s therefore not a surprise when we see locals productions getting another season.
The second season of Sauti Sol’s docu-reality series “Sol Family” is set to kick off on March 15 exclusively on Showmax.
Sol Family, which premiered in August 2020 on Maisha Magic and features the day-to-day lives of Bien, Savara, Chimano and Polycarp, has been in the works since July 2020.
The show has managed to win hearts on Showmax because of its authenticity. According to the producer Eugene Mbugua, season two will focus more on the love life of the four members and also follow their proteges, Nviiri, and Bensoul, to give fans some behind-the-scene look.
“We have an exciting season lined up which we have been filming since July of last year. We’ll give the audience a more in-depth look into the couples on the show. We’ll also get to take you behind the scenes of what happens when Sauti Sol, Nviiri, and Bensoul hit the stage,” he said.
