Subaru has announced its first fully electric vehicle will be called Solterra and will be available in 2022.
The vehicle, which was first confirmed in December last year, will be built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform that has been co-developed with Toyota, combining Subaru’s all-wheel-drive expertise with Toyota electrification tech.
Not much about the car is out but because Toyota’s side of the project is already out, Solterra will be more likely made from the Toyota bZ4X Concept.
Solterra comes from combined Latin words for sun and earth. It will be about the same size as the Subaru Forester, albeit somewhat lower and sleeker, and will be sold in Canada, China, Europe, and Japan, as well as in the U.S.
