The new service will help businesses identify themselves easily to customers, and help upstarts and other established businesses boost brand visibility while improving customers’ trust at the same time.
According to the company, the rise of smartphone usage in the continent calls for the need to make information from a trusted source known.
Truecaller plans to solve the rising fraud and scams with this new business identity solution.
The businesses will be able to prove their identity to customers through a custom green verified business badge. The badge will include basic business information like name, for easy identification.
This solution will easily prove to customers the authenticity of calls from businesses that Truecaller has verified.
“Fraud continues to be a major issue across Africa, and as a company, Truecaller wanted to provide solutions on a business level as well as personal level,” said Zakaria Hersi, director of business development at Truecaller Africa, during the launch.
Although Sony Joy, VP, and head of Truecaller Enterprise, says the company is ready to offer the service to a significant number of businesses globally, the new solution will be made available in Africa first.
Truecaller app helps mobile users easily identify the names behind numbers calling and texting them. The app also protects users from fraud by filtering and blocking spam calls and SMSes.
