The manufacturer describes Marvel R as a spacious and luxurious C-segment model and MG’s most convincing model in recent years.
The Marvel R closely resembles the Roewe Marvel R concept shown at the 2017 Shanghai auto show, only that it bears an MG badge and has slightly different details.
The manufacturer further describes Marvel R as a vehicle with a pretty face and specs to back up its sporty good looks.
MG says Marvel R has three electric motor setups, with one driving the front axle and the other two turning the rare wheels.
The three offer a combined 288 PS (284 horsepower) and 665 Nm of torque, which is enough to send it to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.9sec or 50km/h (31mph) in 1.8secs. The top achievable speed being 200km/h (124mph).
In the future, a lower-powered rear-wheel drive will be made available.
MG doesn’t mention the battery pack capacity of Marvel R but they expect it to have over 400km range on one charge “we believe it is a 70kWh pack. “It will also have an 11kW onboard charger with fast-charging capability. Although the peak rate of charge was not mentioned, the press blurb suggests it takes 30 minutes to charge it to 80 percent.
Marvel R’s tech features include; Fully digital gauge cluster, a massive 19.4-inch portrait-style screen, and a full assortment of active and passive safety aids. In addition to these features, the vehicle also has a heat pump to make the HVAC system more efficient and a 150-litre front trunk to complement the rare 357-litre trunk.
MG says Marvel R should be available in May however they didn’t mention the price.
