Redmi is gearing up to launch the Note 15 Pro+, its toughest phone yet, on August 21 at 7 p.m. The spotlight is firmly on durability, with upgrades in drop resistance, waterproofing, and overall toughness.
For the first time in the Note series, Redmi has equipped the device with Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass—a flagship-grade material first seen on the Xiaomi 14. Paired with a fiberglass back panel, it delivers the strongest double-sided drop protection in the brand’s history. Tests show the Note 15 Pro+ can survive 50 consecutive drops from two meters onto granite, offering ten times more protection than earlier models.
Dragon Crystal Glass: The Breakthrough
Dragon Crystal Glass is a nano-scale microcrystalline material with a Vickers hardness of 860HV0.025, surpassing Huawei’s Kunlun glass. The manufacturing process involves melting quartz sand with lithium carbonate, aluminum oxide, and zirconium at temperatures above 1600°C, followed by more than 80 hours of nanocrystal growth. These tightly packed crystals stop cracks from spreading, enhancing both drop and scratch resistance while preserving the glass’s natural clarity and brilliance.
Refined Design
Despite its rugged build, Redmi hasn’t compromised on looks. The Note 15 Pro+ is being marketed as the “most beautiful Little King Kong.” Its body features a fully deep micro-curved design, striking a balance between clean edges and a soft in-hand feel. The iconic four-barrel camera layout remains, but the frame is slimmer and more polished. While the middle frame appears to use plastic, Redmi stresses that strength and waterproofing have both been upgraded.
Built for Real Life
According to Wang Teng, head of Redmi, the Note 15 series delivers “laboratory-quality durability” in everyday use. Company data reveals that most mid-range phones fail due to drops, water damage, and battery wear. Surveys also show people increasingly use their phones in the rain, in bathrooms, or with wet hands. To address this, the Note 15 Pro+ is optimized with stronger glass, enhanced waterproofing, and improved battery life.
Redmi refers to this approach as “durable quality in actual combat”—a phone designed for workers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who pushes their device through heavy daily use.
A Legacy of Durability
Durability has long been a hallmark of the Note series. The Note 13 introduced IP68 water resistance, the Note 14 raised the bar with full “waterproof grand slam” protection, and now the Note 15 carries IP69K certification—capable of withstanding high-temperature and high-pressure water jets for extended periods. This makes it the most drop-resistant and waterproof Note yet.
More Than Just Toughness
Strength is only part of the story. The Note 15 series also brings flagship-grade features in display quality, charging speed, camera performance, and connectivity, aiming to deliver the best overall experience in the mid-range segment. With more than 460 million Note devices sold globally, Redmi continues to dominate sales of Chinese smartphones priced between $175 and $499.
With the Note 15 Pro+, Redmi combines rugged engineering, premium materials, and a refined aesthetic. The result is a phone built to endure real-world challenges while standing out as the most durable—and arguably the best-looking—Note yet.
