We have the new N7400 Vivobook Pro with us for a few days from our good friends at Asus. The machine was launched a couple of months ago and we have been eager to get get our hands on it. Finally, good things come to those who wait. So, as usual, great quality out of the box, immediately you are greeted with a fine silver surface that is smooth to the touch, and no fingerprints after I’ve touched it and flipped it over and been checking around for the USB ports and SD card slots and taking notes, I’m honestly impressed already. I can work with this.

1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C® (Thunderbolt 4)
-1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
-2 x USB 2.0
-1 x HDMI
-1 x Audio combo jack
-1 x MicroSD card reader

This Vivobook N7400 finds itself in between the Zenbook pro and the Vivobook series. Definietely not a bad place to be right now. It’s mostly aimed at creators, vloggers, and artists. A powerhouse that looks like it can also be for showcasing at the local Java, Except it will be putting in real work.

Specifications

  • Up to Intel® Core™ i7-11370H Processor
  • Up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU
  • Exclusive ASUS DialPad for seamless and intuitive creating experience
  • High capacity battery: 63Wh (14”) / 96Wh (16”)
  • Up to 49% bigger touchpad
  • AI noise-canceling technology
  • Dual-fan cooling design
  • Webcam shield for privacy
  • One touch to login with power button

Design wise, it is less minimalistic and traditional than a Zenbook pro, but not as colourful as the regular Vivobooks. The series comes in both a 14 and 16 inch options and they come in Comet Grey or Cool Silver. Both In stock right now in all Text Book Centres countrywide.

After launching and setting it up, I’m met by the Asus DialPad, no it’s not for making calls, it’s a navigation shortcut built right into the touch pad, it can be customised and works with 3rd party creative applications. Very neat

Also for those concerned over hackers spying on them using the webcam, there is an integrated privacy shield that slides over the webcam to stop it being used. So you can stop taping it up and removing it and messing up the look of your panel. Very useful and much appreciated.
