The Xiaomi 16 series is about to enter its official pre-launch campaign, bringing with it some of the biggest changes the lineup has seen so far. This generation will redefine both the product’s design identity and its market positioning, with fresh updates to both hardware and styling. The device has already been filed for approval and is awaiting public release. It will debut with Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and judging from the Qualcomm Summit timeline, the launch is just around the corner.
Industry insider DCS has shared more details about the compact version of the Xiaomi 16 Pro. This model may either carry the “mini” label or simply be branded as the Xiaomi 16 Pro, while the larger Pro variant with a bigger display could adopt a separate name.
Reports suggest that the compact Xiaomi 16 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch screen, paired with a high-capacity 6,300mAh± battery built on a large R-angle Li-Po design. It is also expected to deliver impressive imaging capabilities, including a large primary sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. Additional highlights include wireless charging, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and full waterproof protection.
Adding to the excitement, Xiaomi Group Partner and President Lu Weibing has released a teaser video showcasing the Xiaomi 16 series. He hinted that this lineup will represent a significant leap forward in both product positioning and definition.
Leaks further suggest that the Xiaomi 16 series will be the first to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite second-generation processor, with an official unveiling expected in September. Unlike its predecessor, the new lineup will introduce two Pro models: a compact 6.3-inch edition and a larger 6.8-inch version. Both will feature a 50-megapixel, 1/1.28-inch ultra-large main camera with high dynamic range, paired with a periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom performance.
