Huawei Mate 80 Pro Leak Reveals New Camera Design and Lemon Yellow Finish

Huawei seems to be experimenting again with a drastic change for their flagship series of smartphones; although the Mate 70 Pro+ looks very different with its squared camera and multispectral sensor, it seems like the new Mate 80 Pro is going to have nothing to do with it. Some recently leaked live pictures are revealing a very different, eye-catching camera layout that is far from the company’s traditional minimalistic approach.

The pictures that were leaked provide a close look at the back parts of three different models in the family — the standard Mate 80, the Mate 80 Pro and the Mate 80 Pro+. Along with this, a close-up of the camera module of the Mate 80 Pro is what mainly caught the viewer’s attention. Instead of the traditional “square in a circle” concept that was characteristic for Huawei, a brand-new idea was brought in.

The camera block is now surrounded by a big metal ring almost like polished stainless steel. The top of the module is going to house an extra sensor and for sure there will be a black insert. The interior looks very strange: a big square lens at the top center, two very thin and long holes on both sides (maybe for color accuracy and light control) and two round lenses below that are sticking out in a circle.

Given the evidences, the lower pair would be the main and the ultra-wide cameras while the upper square lens might be the new periscope camera i.e. a zoom camera with better zoom capabilities. The technical details are totally unknown, but just from the design, you can tell it is a more powerful setup than the previous ones.

What is more, the color of the device is also something. The Mate 80 Pro is painted in a bright lemon yellow with Huawei’s typical design traits: double volume buttons, a power key, flat edges, a slim form, and the corners that are lightly rounded.

The truth of these leaks is still unknown. However, the Mate 80 Pro may be one of the most talked-about smartphones of the season if Huawei were to launch this daring design.
