Google has introduced a new AI-driven feature in Chrome that automatically generates summaries of online store reviews. This tool is currently available in the United States and pulls data from Google Shopping and other popular review platforms.
Previously, users had to search manually for phrases like “reviews of that too-good-to-be-true discount store.” Now, Chrome handles it for you. Just click the icon next to the address bar, and a summary of reviews will appear generated by artificial intelligence.
What does the summary include?
- Product quality
- Customer support performance
- Shipping and return experience
Whether the pricing is realistic or misleading
All of this is compiled into a brief, AI-generated overview, saving users the trouble of browsing through forums and review aggregators. For now, the feature is limited to the U.S., but Google is treating it as a live test run.
Where does the information come from?
Google collects data from its own Shopping platform along with major third-party review websites. Instead of showing just star ratings, the system presents a short, digestible summary that reflects common user opinions without the lengthy filler.
What about AI Mode in Search?
At the same time, Google is expanding its AI Mode in search, now available in the United Kingdom. Similar to Bing’s Copilot but with its own design, this mode breaks down complex queries into smaller parts, searches in parallel, and returns not just links but complete AI-generated responses.
It runs on the Gemini 2.5 model, which has been fine-tuned for Google’s ecosystem. Behind the scenes, the AI uses a technique called multi-query fan-out where a single large question is split into dozens of smaller, more precise prompts for deeper exploration.
Where can users access AI Mode?
AI Mode will appear as a separate tab on the Google search results page, as well as inside the Google app on both iOS and Android. In short, the future is rolling out quietly first in the U.S. and UK, and eventually to other regions.
