Apple’s upcoming September software updates will not only introduce new features for everyday users but also deliver a significant boost for enterprise customers. The most notable addition is system-level support for ChatGPT for Enterprise, giving organizations greater control over how employees use artificial intelligence across Apple devices.
OpenAI already counts more than 5 million corporate clients, and Apple is clearly paying attention. However, the integration does not stop at OpenAI. According to Apple’s documentation, administrators will be able to manage access to any external AI service, not just ChatGPT. This flexibility means Apple could partner with other AI providers in the future without requiring major technical adjustments.
To complement this, Apple is expanding its suite of tools for IT departments. Companies will be able to enable or restrict specific AI functions—such as text suggestions or visual analysis—depending on internal policies. Data processing can also be configured to run locally or through the cloud. Even without an OpenAI enterprise subscription, employees may still access ChatGPT if administrators allow it.
Beyond AI, Apple is rolling out several enterprise-focused upgrades:
- Apple Business Manager API – Now integratable with mobile device management (MDM) systems, inventory platforms, and helpdesk tools.
- Device Management 2.0 – A simplified way to transfer devices between management systems, particularly useful during mergers or acquisitions.
- Return to Service – A faster method to wipe and reconfigure devices for new staff, keeping apps in place to reduce bandwidth usage and setup time. The feature also extends to Vision Pro.
- Guest Mode on Mac – Employees can log in with corporate credentials, ensuring apps remain available while personal data is cleared after logout.
- NFC Authentication – Staff can sign in to a Mac simply by tapping an iPhone or Apple Watch.
All these features will arrive this fall with updates across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro.
With this release, Apple is positioning its ecosystem as a versatile enterprise tool—balancing control, flexibility, and readiness for an AI-driven workplace.
